• L-Citrulline (6,000 mg): A potent booster of nitric oxide (NO), the molecule that causes vasodilation in the arteries lets your heart pump blood and nutrients to muscle cells more efficiently. Research shows that by raising NO levels, citrulline supplementation can improve athletic performance and top-end power, and reduce post-exercise muscle soreness! Here we have a whopping 6-gram dose of citrulline, twice the clinically-verified 3-gram dose.
• Creatine monohydrate (5,000 mg): Creatine is the supplement industry’s go-to ergogenic aid, which is defined as a compound that increases your ability to do physical and athletic work. Creatine operates by donating phosphate groups for the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the fundamental unit of cellular energy in the body. Creatine is also an osmolyte, meaning it regulates the balance of water in your cells and makes them more hydrated than normal. By increasing your cells’ energy supply and hydration, creatine supplementation can lead to increases in lean mass, power, and training volume.

Long ago, scientists concluded that this phenomenon, known as paresthesia, is harmless! And in fact, that’s how you know the beta-alanine is working!

  L-Tyrosine (1,000 mg): The amino acid, tyrosine, is a precursor to important neurotransmitters like dopamine, adrenaline, and noradrenaline, all of which are crucial for the functioning of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS). The SNS is responsible for initiating the “fight or flight” response – just what we need before starting a kick-ass workout, or maybe even a 1776 redux! Tyrosine is especially useful for mitigating the effects of sleep deprivation.

• KSM-66 Ashwagandha (600 mg): Ashwagandha is classified as an adaptogen, a substance that helps normalize the body’s stress response. That is, if your stress response is under-active, ashwagandha can amplify it. And if it’s over-active, ashwagandha can have a calming effect.

  Let’s face it though, most Americans today don’t suffer from an under-active stress response. It’s more likely that a majority of us have the opposite problem. It can result in spending too much time with elevated levels of cortisol, the body’s main stress hormone. But there’s good news. By getting cortisol levels under control, ashwagandha can improve athletic performance, body composition, and even fertility by increasing testosterone levels, improving sleep, and reducing fatigue.

  One thing to note about ashwagandha is that it seems to synergize well with caffeine and help take the edge off the stimulant high. So if you’re nervous about the pretty huge dose of caffeine in this formula, remember that the ashwagandha will help manage it.

• Caffeine anhydrous (350 mg of 420 mg total caffeine): No pre-workout formula is complete without caffeine. Like creatine and beta-alanine, caffeine is considered an ergogenic aid. By inhibiting the action of adenosine, caffeine fights fatigue. And by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase, caffeine increases levels of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), a messenger molecule that instructs your body to mobilize stored glucose and fatty acids and then burn them as energy.

  This increase in cAMP means your cells have access to more energy during workouts, which is why, according to the research literature, caffeine use is reliably associated with increased athletic performance. At the dose used in Red, White & Boom, some individuals may even experience strength gains. Note that Red White & Boom contains 420 milligrams of caffeine overall, a very big dose. ‘Merica Labz recommends testing your caffeine tolerance by starting with a half or quarter dose of their pre-workout and working your way up to a full dose.

• Alpha-GPC 50% (L-Alpha Glycerylphosphorylcholine) (300 mg): Alpha-GPC is a highly bioavailable source of choline, an essential nutrient that helps maintain the integrity of your cells’ phospholipid membranes. Choline is also a necessary precursor for the production of acetylcholine, an important neurotransmitter that we at PricePlow call “the learning transmitter” because of its powerful effects on a wide range of cognitive faculties, including working memory, memory consolidation, balance, and coordination.

  High acetylcholine levels can even increase the force of muscular contractions. Alpha-GPC synergizes well with huperzine A: while it increases acetylcholine production, huperzine A prevents that acetylcholine from being metabolized, thus extending its action in the central nervous system.

• VasoDrive AP (254 mg): VasoDrive AP is extracted from casein protein, a group of proteins that occur naturally in milk. The extract is standardized for two bioactive peptides, iIsoleucyl-prolyl-proline (IPP) and valyl-prolyl-Proline (VPP). What’s special about IPP and VPP is that they’ve been shown to inhibit an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) that causes vasoconstriction, the process by which arteries constrict and then increases the strain on your cardiovascular system, impairing delivery of blood and nutrients to muscle tissue. So by helping prevent vasoconstriction (the opposite of vasodilation), VasoDrive AP helps ensure that you get the benefits of vasodilation.

  Theobromine (100 mg): Often described as “caffeine’s cousin,” theobromine is a methylxanthine just like caffeine and has similar effects on phosphodiesterase and adenosine. While theobromine is a stimulant, its effects are a bit more mild. Theobromine also has a longer half-life, meaning it leaves your system at a slower rate and, as it wears off, reduces the impact of a stimulant crash.

• Huperzia serrata extract (10 mg): This extract is standardized for Huperzine A, a bioactive constituent of Huperzia serrata that inhibits acetylcholinesterase, the enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine in your body. By inhibiting the breakdown process, huperzine A essentially raises acetylcholine levels, giving you all the usual benefits of high acetylcholine.
